Essential Care Moisturising Sun Cream SPF8
The new Essential Care Sun Cream - what's in it?

Microfine zinc oxide which is unique in not only providing full UVB (burning range) protection but also across the full UVA spectrum (which is responsible for the deep tissue damage that can result in skin cancer). Zinc is photostable and a skin-beneficial mineral, in fact the only sunscreen ingredient that is recommended by the American FDA for use on compromised or challenged skin. It is not absorbed into the skin cells or body and works by acting as a physical barrier on the skin that deflects the sun's rays. Essential Care chose zinc oxide over the other mineral sunscreen titanium dioxide because titanium absorbs 70% of UV light, so functions more as a chemical sunscreen rather than a physical one, and can also induce free radical activity.

A moisturising plant oil base of coconut and jojoba offer mild-sunscreening properties, are photostable and help protect against free-radical damage with their high antioxidant vitamin conten.t

Organic shea butter, used for centuries in Africa to protect skin from the sun.

Therapeutic phytobotanicals: organic sea buckthorn, calendula and rosemary that are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and soothing for the skin.

In sum, skin-friendly, eco-friendly sun protection, free from synthetic sun filters or preservatives, pesticides or petrochemicals, and bursting with nature's most protective and nourishing organically grown ingredients. The cream is water-resistant, easy to apply and does not whiten the skin. It is 100% gentle, suitable for challenged skin, babies and children. Clinically tested to SPF 8 with a superior UVA star rating. Essential Care believe it is the most natural, pleasant to use sun cream ever!

Be safe in the sun. Some sunlight is healthy for us because it allows the body to create beneficial vitamin D. But too much exposure to the sun will age your skin, no matter how good your sunscreen. Sunscreens should be used as a means of skin protection in your normal daily activities. Cover up and do not stay out in the sun for prolonged periods, particularly from midday to early afternoon. Apply sunscreen regularly and particularly after swimming or bathing. Be particularly careful with babies and small children whose skin is 4-5 times thinner and more delicate than adult skin. Modern doctrine encourages people to use a high SPF cream, but Essential Care believe that this can be misleading. The most crucial protection in terms of skin cancer is from the sun's UVA rays which has little to do with the SPF.
